Day 9 - Neighborhood Train

We were all so excited about tonight's activity!  We invited some friends and family over to go to our neighbor's house.  Our neighbor, the train man  builds a train in his yard every year and lets you ride for free.  Before we left for the train, we had smores in the backyard.

Here's Hunter ready for our guests to arrive...

Out back toasting marshmallows...

Hunter was a little cautious of the fire at first, but it didn't take him long to get a little too brave.  He put one marshmallow on each end of his stick, and ended up CATCHING HIMSELF ON FIRE.  Yes, he did.  Luckily, he had multiple layers on, and Taylor and I stayed calm while our maternal, protective instincts quickly kicked in.  So he walked away with only a tiny little burn on his jacket.  Then about 5 minutes later, Charlotte nearly caught her hand on fire, but we were also able to avoid that disaster...by the grace of God...no over-protective parenting here...yikes!  You'd think I would've learned from her brother's incident.

Charlotte wasn't patient enough to let me help her toast her marshmallow.  She kept running away with it, and eventually shoved the entire thing in her mouth...

And then begged cousin Vanesa for her smore...

She was covered in marshmallow by the end of the night.

After everyone got a smore, it was time to leave for the train!  My sweet husband was once again the photographer for the night.
From front car to back...Presley, Me and Char, Vanesa, Zack and Hunter, Taylor and Teagan.  Amy and Noah and then Crystal and Jackson were behind them, but they got cut out of the picture.  Sorry y'all!  It's really difficult to get a good picture with a train that moves that fast.

One more picture...

After the ride, we got some still pictures...
 Zack and Hunter

 Me and Charlotte

And just so we'd have some proof that he was there...

Zack, Hunter, Presley, and Teagan wanted to ride one more time...

Vanesa is always such a help with Charlotte, and Charlotte loves her.  She kept reaching up for V to pick her up tonight...

We had so much fun and can't wait to go again next Friday with our church friends!

Tonight's verses were Luke 2:6-7 "While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them."

We are so incredibly thankful that Jesus chose to leave heaven and come to Earth as a baby 2000 years ago, so that we could be saved from our sin.  Above all, we are excited about that blessing this season.

Carole! We went to this last weekend when we were in Dallas with my sister's family (they live RIGHT near you). It was sooooooo much fun! Gabriel screamed with joy for both laps on the train. Weren't those seats a nice tight fit? We sure did have a blast! Glad your family got to enjoy it too... I have been loving your nightly projects btw.
