Fair Fun

Vanesa turned 18 on October 1st and wanted a family day at the fair, so we fought the opening weekend crazy for her. It was hot and fun and fattening!

This was the first "ride" the kids did and Hunter hurt his back on the slide at the end. It's still healing up! Somehow the slide flipped him upside down and pulled his shirt up, so he got these 3 burn spots where the skin rubbed off. I felt so bad for him, because you could tell it really hurt and it was just the start of our day...

After we worked up a sweat, we headed into the car show for some cool air!

When we left the car show, we checked out the pups with the SPCA, and I fell in love with a husky with beautiful blue eyes (shocking I know!), but Hunter was adamantly against getting a dog, so there's still no Brooks family pet at our house.

We had to get some obligatory Big Tex pictures...

Grey wanted to ride these kiddie cars, but when I walked him over to buckle him in, he lost his mind because I tried to walk away, so I asked if I could ride with him and the worker looked at me like I was crazy and told me I couldn't fit, so big sister saved the day! It wasn't his favorite thing of the day for sure...

After that Charlotte made me ride that super fast, swirling, music blasting ride and I was so dizzy.

This was a cool attraction where they made sculptures (models? designs? monuments?) out of canned food...

It was a fun day with family!

Grey's First Day

Grey had his ever first day of school two weeks ago. He was so excited leading up to that  morning and had been asking everyday if he could go! But, once the morning came, he wasn't so sure anymore and said he didn't want to go once it was time to get in the car:(  He did let me get a fun little photo shoot in before we left, though...

James and I both took him to school and walked his stuff to his classroom before we all headed to the chapel for Jammin' with Jesus:)  Grey was not having any of it, though. Kids were crying all over the place and he joined in whenever we tried to leave. So we stayed and just sat behind him for a while until we could safely sneak out. His teacher texted me later that morning and said there were a few tears once he realized we had left, but that he was quickly chattering away with everyone. And she sent this awesome picture of him laughing giddily during parachute time! (He's the one right beside the teacher)...

He was all smiles when I picked him up and cheerily said, "By Ms. Chelle!" when we left. We haven't had any tears since! I'm so glad he's loving school!

First Day of School!

Once again, it's been over a month since I blogged. Sigh. August was filled with more summer fun, and then before we knew it, it was time to head back to school. This summer flew by at lightning speed!

This year we have a 4th grader, 2nd grader, and preschooler! Grey hasn't started school yet, but has met his teacher last Friday. He asked tonight when I put him to bed if he could go to "treat-school" tomorrow. He's very excited!

Hunter and Charlotte were a little less excited for their first day. Not that we had to drag them kicking and screaming or anything. They just wanted a little more summer!

Some gifts to help their teachers through the first week back!

Charlotte was excited that her friend, Gracie, was at her table...
And her good friend, Emma, sits right beside her!

Ms. Seguin and Char...

Ms. Carzola and Hunter...

Hunter got to pick his own seat this year! That made him think 4th grade was pretty awesome! He chose to sit by his friend, Neil...

We love both of their teachers. They are having a great year so far!
