San Antonio

James, Hunter and I went to San Antonio with my family (mom, grandparents, sisters, brother in law, niece and nephew!) for Memorial Day weekend. Hunter was SUCH A GOOD BABY the whole time! We had so much fun!

James, Hunter and I stopped at Robert and Marcy's in Austin on the way to San Antonio to meet Will, visit and eat dinner. Here are Hunter and baby Will laying together! What a difference 6 weeks makes!

Our family at the market - there's Grandad and Aunt Courtney sitting on the bench behind us!

Oh the Dog Pee

Last night Hunter slept in his crib through the night for the first time! (He usually sleeps in his pack n play in our bedroom). When I put him down at 10, I shut his bedroom door so that I could watch my tivoed episode of The Bachelor season finale. When I went to bed around 11, I laid there for like an hour imagining all of the horrible things that could happen to him in his room without me right there to protect him (like Geckos crawling on him or people sneaking in his window and taking him in the middle of the night). I acknowledge that this is psycho and am a little hesitant to type it on my blog for all to see, but in my defense, we did have a gecko that had crawled in our house about 2 hours earlier. It took James 30 minutes to get rid of it. I digress. Anyway, I finally decided to turn the monitor down because sleeping was not an option with it on full blast for me to hear every little movement and wonder if someone was coming in to take my sweet baby. Well, he woke up at like 4:30 and when I went in there to get him, I was hit in the face with the annoyingly familiar scent of (frustrated sigh) dog pee. I guess keeping the door closed all night trapped the smell in the room. So, it's official! As so many of you insisted, we are going to have to get new carpet. The $160 we threw at Stanley Steemer didn't seem to do the trick! Hopefully this will be my last blog entry on this topic and we will be able to get new carpet soon!

The Exercise Ball

So my friend, Laura, from work gave me a physio-ball as a gift before I had Hunter. I remember thinking, "I'm really not thinking about weight loss strategies at this point. Kind of just want to get through the trauma of labor." I guess she could see the confusion on my face because she explained that her son, Will, was so easily calmed with her physio-ball and LOVED to bounce on it. So after James and I experimented with a tons of different ways to calm Hunter those first few weeks, we decided to pull it out. It is a miracle worker! It is unbelievable. The instant we sit on it and begin bouncing Hunter, he stops crying. It doesn't matter if he's in a fit of rage. That ball is our favorite thing! (Many of y'all know how I love to pick favorites). We've been using it for about 6 weeks now and Hunter's not tired of it yet. I wish I could fold it up and take it with me everywhere! Needless to say, James and I spend many hours on this ball each week. I totally recommend it if you have an infant that needs soothing!

Congratulations Matt and Emily!

My friends, Matt and Emily, got engaged Friday night! I introduced them almost 3 years ago after Emily described the kind of guy she wanted to date and Matt immediately popped into my head! The picture of them is when they came to visit Hunter in the hospital.

Charlie and Preston

Hunter and I - I look just like Court (my sister) in this picture! It's crazy!

Preston and Courtney - I didn't get a picture of Rikki and Charlie :(

Hunter stretching! I love this picture because it looks like they're reaching out to each other!

Hunter and I went to visit with two of my friends from graduate school, Rikki and Courtney, this week. Rikki's son, Charlie, was born 23 hours and 50 minutes before Hunter and Courtney's son, Preston, was born in late December. Hunter had a good time with his friends! We got some cute pictures of them all laying together. They kept reaching out to each other and touching hands and faces! It was so cute!

Wicked

So Friday night James and I went to go see Wicked with our friends Hunter and Carrie. If you are going to see it, I'd stop reading now so that I don't give parts away. I have to ask myself, "What's all the hype about?" I was not impressed. I will say that there were some good songs and that Wicked Witch is pretty talented, but it does not live up to all of the kudos it's been given. I (along with the other 3 people with me) was expecting something competely different. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Legally Blonde and all, but who's idea is it to use Elle's character as the inspiration for the young Glinda (or should I say Galinda)? How annoying is that? Also, what's up with the wicked witch being completely innocent and martyresque and everyone else in Oz having a little wicked in them? It is kind of entertaining to see how the writer made all of the wicked things that Elfaba (the wicked witch) did in The Wizard of Oz to really have had good intentions behind them, but he had some trouble making the scarecrow's storyline fit with the Wizard of Oz. As James pointed out, what about when the wicked witch taunts the scarecrow and throws fire at him in the Wizard of Oz? I really don't think she'd try to kill the man she's in love with! As I say all this, I do recognize that I couldn't have done any better (or come even close to being this creative) at writing a musical, but I was disappointed. I probably would have enjoyed it more if every person I know hadn't raved about how amazing it was. So if you haven't seen it and you're still reading, I'm not saying not to see it, just don't expect the best musical ever written.

Here's a picture that Vanesa took of James and I before we left for the show (obviously not the best angle to make me look slim). We didn't get any pictures of us with our friends at the show because the mean usher lady threatened the girls behind us when they had their camera out , and I didn't want to risk mine getting confiscated!

The Bumbo Seat

I really don't have anything special to say about the Bumbo seat, but I really wanted to post these pics. We put Hunter in his Bumbo for the first time the other night and he looked so cute! It's the perfect size for his little body!:)
