Day 11 - Santa Party

Since we missed yesterday's verses, we combined today and read Luke 2:8-12 "And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.'"

Hunter has been much better about wanting to read our verses every night, and even participates in our little q & a sessions, which makes me so thankful.

Our activity for tonight was to go to the Hays' Santa Party.  Hunter remembered from last year that Santa came in on a fire truck and was asking all day if the fire truck was going to be loud.  He also told us the ENTIRE way out to the house that he did not want to sit in Santa's lap.

We were late to the party, so right when we got there, everyone was going outside to wait for Santa.  We stayed in our coats and joined them...

The street was a little tight with cars, so the fire truck had to wait at the end...

We all went down to meet Santa...

Isn't he the most real-looking Santa you've ever seen?

Hunter was excited about Santa, but even more excited about the firemen that drove him and Mrs. Claus out to the house!  Charlotte didn't know what to think...

After everyone greeted him, we all went into the Hays's house and Santa read a story...

Here's our family photo with Santa...
As promised, I stood Hunter beside Santa.  But after the picture was taken, Santa handed over Charlotte, quickly grabbed Hunter and sat him in his lap.  I was really nervous, but Hunter handled it great...

He told Santa that he wanted a basketball hoop and some candy, which is what he got last year.  The other day we looked at pictures of Christmas morning, so I guess that's what was fresh on his mind.  Hunter ended up really enjoying Santa.  He even went down the stairs to tell him bye when he left...
That's his little white shirtsleeve holding onto the banister.:)

Hopefully next year he'll remember how fun Santa is and will be less anxious on the way to the party!  Thanks for inviting us Hays!  We had a great time!
