Advent Days 5 & 6 - Hot Chocolate and Trains at Northpark

I wasn't feeling well again on Wednesday and Thursday, so I didn't get any pictures of the trains at Northpark.  We did get plenty of the fun whipped cream shapes for our hot chocolate, though!  It was a pinterest find, and as with most cute pinterest ideas, it didn't turn out as perfect as the picutre online, but we had fun anyway!

I spread the whipped cream into the cookie pan that morning and froze it so that after school, we'd be ready to go!  We pulled out all of our Christmas shaped cookie cutters and got to work.  The kids loved it...

Everything was going smoothly...

Until it was time to remove the shapes and our perfect heart turned into this...

She was still impressed, though:)

He was, too!

The whipped cream and hot chocolate were super yummy together...

Even with Hunter's eyes closed, I think this picture is super cute of them...

The next day we went to see the trains at Northpark and we also stopped by to see the SPCA puppies and happened upon a puppet show that I think is new this year.  We just caught the end, so we're going to try to see the whole thing the next time we're there.

Our verses for Wednesday and Thursday were Matthew 1:24-25...
"When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.  But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus."

And Luke 2:1-2...
"In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.  (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)"

We've had a rough week.  We've all had our moments of negativity and complaining, and I am so thankful that at the end of the day I get to open up God's love letter to me (to all of us) and read Scripture...remembering the birth of our Savior, Emmanuel, God with us.
