Charlotte and I were super excited about Saturday's activity...a trip to the ballet! A first for James, Hunter and Charlotte. Although Charlotte was elated, Hunter was less than thrilled. On the way down to the ballet he kept saying that it was for girls so when I told him boys were in the ballet, too, he just started saying things like, "What!?! There's no boy ballet! Why would they make that?! They should just play sports!" I told him we'd just see if he liked it and if he didn't, Char and I would just go for a girls outing next year and he and James could do something manly. Like the go to the lego store.
The kids played with the camera while I was in the back getting dressed...
Excuse my clothes. This is my last pregnancy and since I'm due in less than 9 weeks, there's no way I'm going to buy new clothes. And those boots are about the only flat shoes that I have that aren't tennis shoes or ballet flats. Since I have sciatica, I pretty much rotate through those options everyday... at this point, it's comfort over fashion. Also, it looked better in person. Or so I thought...
See how thrilled he is?
After it was over he said that he didn't mind it all that much but it was so looooooooong. Char, on the other hand, watched intently through the entire thing! She loved it!
Since they did so well we went to have dinner and dessert at La Madeliene...
And they both loved that!
Todays activity was a trip to Northpark to watch the puppet shows, but first we had a Christmas concert at church during second hour. Hunter sang with his classmates, and Charlotte and Ethan's class got to come in for the beginning to hear the big kids sing...
Ronnie, Max, Brayden, Nathan, and Hunter...
Those boys have been in Sunday School together for a long time...Ronnie, Max, Nathan, and Hunter have been together since birth!
After church we headed to lunch at Northpark with lots of friends from church. Then the Satterfield's and Thomas's stayed with us to watch some puppet shows. The boys were laughing so hard at this one...
Ok, so not here, but they were giggling so loud later in the show:)
We played in the courtyard for a while, too. Charlotte loved posing with these toy soldiers...
Or are they nutcrackers?....
Then we headed over to take pictures in the cutouts. It was really bright....
The boys had fun goofing off...
But eventually they joined us for pics...
Still really bright!
Ethan as Scrooge...
Our verses over the last 2 nights were Luke 2:18-21, which say...
"and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived."
It was interesting explaining conception and circumcision to Hunter. I reminded him that Jesus was Jewish and told him that circumcision was something that all Jewish boys had done when they were 8 days old. Of course he wanted to know, "but what IS circumsicion?" So I told him in as basic, straigthforward terms as possible. Luckily, he didn't pry any further...just grimaced and was happy to move on to prayers:)
Looking forward to our last week of preparing for our Lord's birth!
