Advent, Week 2

Another week's gone by and I haven't been able to blog! So here it is all in one post...

On Wednesday the 9th, we made Christmas treats for our neighbors...
Picture taking clearly wasn't a priority for me that day. We made peppermint rice krispie treats and then delivered them to 3 friends on our street.

The next day we baked again, but just for us this time. I have terrible handwriting and am not good at drawing or cutting straight or any of those crafty skills, so our gingerbread houses always turn out so awful. This year I opted for baking gingerbread cookies. Charlotte chose lots of Christmas cookie cutters to shape the dough - a star, Christmas tree, gingerbread man, stocking, candy cane, bell, and she wanted a heart for Jesus' love:)

We had fun decorating - and eating!- them...

Friday night we went to look at lights around our neighborhood, but stopped at Starbucks first. We let Grey get a cake pop and with the first bite, it fell off the stick. So, logically, he just shoved the entire thing in his mouth. And then quickly spit it out because it was so HUGE. Of course, it was a mess...

Those hands!!!

We had to come home halfway through to clean Grey up, so Hunter grabbed his tablet to take pictures. Charlotte took some with my phone, too...

She took this video, too...

Saturday was another crazy day! Hunter and Charlotte were in the Sachse Christmas parade that morning. Hunter with Cub Scouts...
He's looking at this drone in the picture above...

The Grinch! Hunter doesn't look too impressed:/

He lost his slide for his neckerchief...
Thankfully, we have 2 at home.

James, Grey and I watched with Katie and Grandee and Poppy...

And Charlotte got to march with the Swingsters!!
So exciting! She was really happy to get to walk beside cousin Vanesa...

After the parade, we went to Charlotte's mini Christmas recital at her dance studio...
Totally stole this picture off my friend, Jennifer's blog. (Thanks, friend!)

Because, this is the only one I got:(
Jennifer clearly had a better seat than me:)

James did stand to the side and get this video, but his phone cut off halfway through...

After that we ran to lunch and then headed to Hunter's basketball game where he scored his first basket for the season! We're so proud of how much he's improved since last season!

On Sunday the 13th we went to see Elf the musical...

Three of the four Brookses present were struggling with getting a good picture that day:) It was long and I fell asleep 3 times (which I never do!) and it had several inappropriate moments (for our 8 and 6 year old at least). At one point a character said bi*ch and Charlotte said, "What's bi*ch?" and Hunter gasped and said, "Charlotte! That's a bad word!" I felt like an awesome parent, but it was a little better that there were tons of other kids around and that we ran into friends after who had also brought their kids (same age as ours!). It's a memory I guess!

Today our activity was to read Christmas books and eat peppermint ice cream, which we did, but I think the kids had more fun with their impromptu playdate after school with some friends so their mom and I could work on stuff for the class Christmas parties on Friday.

I was so moved (to tears) at church on Sunday by the excellent sermon about the miracle of the virgin birth and the miracle of the incarnation. Jesus was fully human after his birth, but he was also fully God. How he humbled himself to come down to us is breathtaking. I am so looking forward to Christmas Day. Next week!!
