Spring Break

I have so been lacking on the blog posting in 2016! I started this post right after spring break and forgot about it until I just saw the draft while writing Hunter's birthday post. So, a quick re-cap of our trip (if I can even remember it now!)...

James and I celebrated 11 years of marriage the first Saturday of spring break, so we all headed down to Nana and Rich's house in Corpus the next day, Sunday the 6th. We drove most of the day, getting there right around dinner time. After a home cooked meal, the bigs jumped in the hot tub with Rich...
I think they got in the hot tub every day at least once. I got in there zero times...maybe next year when Grey's a little older, I'll prioritize it.

Tired from driving all day! Look at that face...

The forecast was not great for a beach getaway, but we wanted to try it anyway, so we headed out the next day, late morning...

This is what it looked like when we got there...
Totally bare!!! I think there were like 3 other people on the entire beach. And this is why...
The wind was cra-zy! And made it so, so cold. That combined with the sand that was flying into our eyes did not make for a great beach outing.

We pushed through for a little bit, though, and the big kids were even brave enough to go out into the freezing water. Look at Hunter!

Grey felt about like I did about the whole situation and just wanted to get back in the car. He wouldn't walk out to the water or even stand in the sand at first. Who could blame him when it kept flying into our eyes!

Charlotte just looks cold here...

But, she's a brave girl!

I never took my beach pants off and eventually wrapped up in a towel...

Grey finally warmed up and started playing in the sand with the other kids...

They buried Charlotte in the sand...

She can't even open her eyes it's so windy!
After about 45 minutes we were packed up and driving back to Nana's. It was just too windy to be enjoyable.

We showered and relaxed on the couch for a while...
The rest of that day was pretty lazy, just hanging around the house.

The next day, the weather was worse, so the kids just got in Rich's boat in the driveway. If you can't take it out to the water, you might as well pretend while it's parked on the concrete!

We all went to eat at Doc's (our favorite place) and later went to play putt putt...

I love how excited Grey is in this video...

Each night we hung out at home after dinner and played games or watched tv or movies.

The last day (Wednesday), Katie and her family left, and the rest of us went to Peter Piper Pizza...

It was raining pretty hard this day, so after we put Grey down for nap, Nana and I took Char and Hunter to see Zootopia. We were all going to go to PF Chang's for dinner, but it was so rainy when the movie got out that everyone just wanted to go back to the beach house.

Thursday, we got up and loaded the car for the long drive home. It definitely wasn't the weather that we'd hoped for, but it was nice to have some time together as a family to relax. We are so thankful that Nana and Rich retired at the beach!
