Holy Week

I was still in Pennsylvania on Palm Sunday, so James was alone with the kids at our church potluck and egg hunt.  I was so glad that my friend, Stefani, took pictures and emailed them to me...
Don't judge Charlotte's hair...daddy got her ready:)

It was rainy that day, so the egg hunt was indoors.  I heard there were TONS of eggs!

I didn't get home until midnight on Monday, so we didn't start our activities until Tuesday.  That day after school pick up, we egged several of our neighbors.  Each child got to pick one friend (we all picked who we thought Grey wanted to Egg).  We were so preoccupied with being covert, that I didn't get any pictures.  The kids had so much fun with this activity.  They thought they were secret agents!  Here's a copy of the letter we taped to their doors...

You’ve Been EGGED!!

The Brooks kids hid 12 eggs in your yard!

Enjoy the hunt, but don’t be discouraged when you find the empty egg.  It’s a simple reminder of Jesus’ empty tomb—for

He is RISEN!

We'll definitely do that one again next year:)  After we got home that afternoon, we read one of the resurrection stories in one of the gospels.

On Wednesday after school, we made these fun (and yummy!) snacks and read the story of when Jesus appeared after the resurrection to some of his disciples who were fishing...

On Thursday, we made resurrection rolls and I took no pictures.  My exhaustion from the trip was starting to catch up with me.  We make those every year and the kids loved them.  That night we went to a presentation by Jews for Jesus at our church on Christ in the Passover.  I loved it, especially since I wasn't able to do a Passover dinner at home this year.

On Friday, Charlotte, Grey and I went to the arboretum with some friends.  It. was. packed.  But Charlotte was so excited to get her face painted, that we waited in the long line anyway...

Check out those blue lips!

BFFS, Charlotte and Amelia...

The kids dancing at the Eddie Coker concert...

That night, we dyed eggs and talked through what each color could stand for in the Easter story...
The kids had some really great ideas!

Clearly, pictures weren't a priority for me.  I didn't even realize his eyes were closed until days later when I loaded all of them from my phone to my computer...

Saturday, we headed to my dad's house to celebrate a little early.  The kids went on an egg hung in the back yard...

Hunter would always turn around whenever I'd go to snap a photo...

Charlotte accidentally spilled all of her eggs at one point.  I was proud that there wasn't *too* much drama afterward...

Jennifer and Dad gave each kid a basket full of goodies.  Grey had these glasses in his:)...

When we came home that afternoon, we went on a walk around the neighborhood collecting rocks.   When we got home, Hunter and Charlotte wrote some of the sins they struggle with on the rocks and we put them in baskets...

Then we found a red blanket (to represent Jesus' blood) to cover the baskets...

I completely forgot to take a picture, but the next morning when they woke up, they found new gifts in their baskets and Jesus' had taken all of their sins (rocks) in his basket...

After getting ready, we went out front and turned our cross around...

We had a joyful resurrection day celebrating our Lord!  As our friend said in his sermon that morning, every Sunday is Easter for us, but I am thankful for this special Sunday when we can spend time praising God for his power and miracle.  We love you Jesus and look forward to your return!
