Happy Halloween!!

We had a Halloween-filled weekend!  Friday night we went to Hunter's school's fall festival, but I was working the bounce house and wasn't able to get any pictures of the fun.  Luckily, I got this one before we left...
James and the kids said it was lots of fun!

Then Saturday night, we went to the Sims' annual Halloween party, but again, no pictures because I was too FREEZING to even think about that.  The kids had so much fun bouncing in the bounce house and we had a great time catching up with old friends!

Then today while Charlotte napped, Hunter and I made these witch's broomsticks that H had picked out on pinterest...
I highly recommend this as a Halloween treat to do with the kids.  The easiest thing we've ever made together!  And they're super yummy!

Then tonight we headed to Kate's church's trunk or treat.  Charlotte woke up from her nap afternoon nap right before we left and was really groggy.  We were running late (of course) and she was fighting putting her costume on (which is a page out of Hunter's book, not hers...she LOVES to dress up).  She even refused all of her princess jewelry, and it was then that I realized, she is probably getting sick.  We went ahead and drove out to the trunk or treat, but all through dinner, she was pitiful.  Once her Tylenol kicked in, she was doing much better, but still asked for a warm bath when we got home.  I pray that sweet girl is better tomorrow!

I did get several pictures from tonight, but both kids were so over their accessories, that they weren't in full costume.  And Char's sick.  And most of the pics are blurry.  So here's the result...
Char and Myley waiting in line for dinner.

Hunter Darth Vader (or Darth Mater, as Char calls him) ready to eat!

I know.  He looks thrilled to be hugging me...

Ready for trick or treating!

The first car had this seriously scary witch that freaked out both kids a little bit...

Once we got passed her, they were a lot less timid reaching for their candy!

Vanesa was such a good helper!

One of the men asked Hunter, "Who are you?" before he gave H is candy, and Hunter just stared at him for a while.  Then quitely said, "Hunter".  We all had a good chuckle at that.  I love that boy!

We had a great weekend!  And now our house is full of candy...hopefully we can all have the will power to avoid scarfing it down in one week!

Pumpkin Village

I love the arboretum in the fall.  It's my favorite time to go, and even though the pumpkin set up is pretty much the same every year, it is still so fun to me to go out and look at it...and to take an obscene amount of pictures with my children posing in front of various piles of pumpkins.

But y'all.

It cost $43 to get in to the arboretum with 2 children and a mama.  Even if you're only going for an hour and a half after school one day.  Membership, please?  Ummmm, yes...I feel like a complete idiot for not doing it early.

And now for the pumpkins.  And my kids...
Not the best lighting...or smile from my sweet son, but I love the sea of pumpkins behind him!

Char at one of the pumpkin houses...
Isn't it amazing!?!

A pumpkin tree...

And of course our princess-loving girl quickly spotted Cinderella's carriage and begged for a picture in it...

I loved it so much, that I asked Hunter to take a picture of the girls in it...
I think he did a great job!

Posing...

They love this bridge, so we took a little detour over there as soon as they spotted it...

Then quickly ran back to the pumpkin patch...

I tried to get a shot of them from outside, so you could see all of the pumpkins, but after I sent them in, I just saw the top of Hunter's head and heard him shouting, "Mommy...Char can't reach!"  You can kind of see their tiny fingers in the window...

More posing...

Running to the toads!

I was a total fun mom that day and let them get soaked...

And, boy, did they!

Two words...wet. dog.

I love these next 3 pictures...

Such sweet siblings!

Some close ups...

They love to play on the stage and pretend like they're putting on a show...

Hunter was really concerned about the "dead ladybug" he saw in the water...

Again, so sweet!

I think he'd had it with the pictures by now!

We had such a fun afternoon together!  It made me even more excited for the fall!  If only the weather would start to act like it;)

Pumpkins!!

Yesterday we went out to the Blase Family Farm in Rockwall to check out their pumpkin patch, and when we got there, they had SO much more than pumpkins!  First we tried to feed the longhorns, but they snubbed us, so we headed over to the goats.  We found one very hungry little goat.  Hunter wasn't interested in feeding him (no one's surprised, I know), but Char couldn't get enough (and neither could the goat!)...

Then we got to go for a little hayride and see the blueberry patch (they are a mainly a blueberry farm, so they took us to their blueberry crops)...
The kids weren't as thrilled with this as I had envisioned.  They were ready to jump off after about .7 seconds, so I gave them each a shot at the camera to entertain them for a minute.  Here's Hunter's...

After the hayride, Hunter wanted to explore the pumpkins.  We found this big measuring stick in the patch...

We grow 'em tall in the Brooks family:)

Then we headed over for some hot dogs, chips and Sprite...

And ended our little trip with some fun in the hay maze...

Char wanted to pose like a ballerina:)...

We did have fun at the farm, but I didn't like the way their pumpkins looked, so today we headed over to this church's pumpkin patch that we go to every year to get our pumpkins.  I told the kids they could each pick one, and Hunter really took his time looking around before finding just the right one...

Char chose this little baby pumpkin because it was "so cute like a baby"...

What a fun little surprise that they gave the kids a candy treat when we paid for our pumpkins!
And Hunter didn't waste anytime digging right in to his:)
