Luckily, the animals inside the zoo were much less stinky than the donkeys that were methodically gated inside a little hilly corner of the parking lot. Poor donkeys...forced outside of the zoo because of their stink.
After gagging down that stench, we made it inside and were ready to see the animals...
First we went to the Giants of the Savannah section to see the elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, and their lone ostrich friend. We bought some lettuce to feed the giraffes, but as soon as the giraffe saw our lettuce and headed our way, Hunter threw his piece at James...
Hunter gave the giraffe his second piece like a champ, though...
Like her brother, Charlotte was a little freaked out when that giant giraffe mouth came at her hand...
Even though it was a little intimidating, we all thought it was pretty cool to feed them.
Then kids had fun playing around in all of the safari decor...
Hunter opted out of posing on the elephants...
I know you're shocked.
BUT. In some sort of freaky Friday turn of events, my children seemed to switch personalities once we got to the children's zoo. Hunter was running around all over like a maniac while Charlotte timidly played around the slide...demanding that I hold her hand the whole time.
Hunter jumped and climbed all over this spider web...
I coaxed Char over there, and she spent most of the time looking like this...
After lunch, the kids rode the slide together...
Next we went over and fed the fish...
And saw the rest of the farm animals in the children's zoo. Hutner also opted out of posing on these play horses...
Back to himself again:)
Mine and James's favorite part of the day was watching a ginormous python shed his skin. It was soooo cool. Hunter says his favorite part was looking at the lions and the monkeys. He loved watching the monkeys swing across their habitat. Charlotte says she loved the elephants and the lions. We had so much fun! Can't wait to go back!

I can't see several of the pictures for some reason? But so funny! Just when you think you know them perfectly they go and do the complete opposite of what you think... <3 you!
