Rio

Sunday was my birthday, and we had a great day hanging out as a family.  My favorite thing is for the 4 of us to spend time together, doing whatever, even doing nothing at all (aka, family cuddle time!), so it was a perfect day for me!

Hunter has been wanting to go see a movie lately, so I thought we'd go as a family and risk taking our not quite two year old for her first trip to the movies.  Hey, it's my party and I'll do what I want to.  Even if that means making an entire theater of people hate me.  Of course that would never happen, though, because James can't stand it long enough for our kids to disrupt anyone else.  The public should bless that man for making their lives so pleasant.

Anyway.

We decided to go to the dollar theater so that we didn't waste too much money on a ticket for Char just in case she couldn't make it past the previews.  She made us proud, though, and lasted an entire hour before James had to take her out.

Right after we bought our tickets, I took the kids to get our seats while James went to get our snacks.  Being the loving wife that I am, I thought I'd spare him the embarrassment of papparazzi movie mommy and take the pictures before he got in there...

I asked Hunter to take a pic of me and Char...

It wasn't so successful, so I thought I'd try to do a self-portait...
I was starting to embarrass myself at this point, so I just gave up.

Gave up on pictures with me in them, that is...

We always let Hunter get Coke and popcorn and candy at the movies.  If it makes it any better, we generally put the candy in the popcorn...and we share the Coke.  Stop judging me.

Well Char couldn't get enough of the Coke.  She would suck and suck until she couldn't breathe anymore, and then she'd leave the straw in her mouth during her breathing breaks.  We finally had to hide it.  And to try to distract her from yelling, "Coke!  Coke!", we let her sit in the seat with Hunter...
After that bite of popcorn, she said, "Yucky!" and asked for the Coke again.  It's a sad thing when you realize your child is going to have the same vices as you.  Coke is my weakness...we have a love-hate relationship.  It looks like Char's heading for that same relationship....although, probably more weighted on the love side, than the hate I'm thinking.

Even though I may have to deal with toddler Coke withdrawal symptoms for a week, it was a great way to spend my birthday!  Oh how I love those three...
