Because more candy is what he really needs...

Last year Hunter had an obscene amount of Easter egg hunts, but this year we simplified, and he just went to the one at our church on Sunday after the service.  Hunter's pretty much been in a bad mood since his birthday...or at the very least, he's been moody.  My cousin pointed out this weekend that three year old boys and sixteen year old girls are actually exactly the same in temperment, and I can't say I disagree with her there.

I dare you to try to find the drama that only a sixteen  year old girl (or in our case, a three year old boy) expresses in my Easter egg hunt picture story below.  I promise, just like those Easter eggs, the drama won't be hard to find.

We started out with a picnic in the gym, and then we all got ready for the hunt....

Here Hunter is in rare form for the day...

I know it's probably in the top 20 worst pictures I've ever taken, but I love Charlotte's new old lady smile....

Since it was so windy, the hunt was all indoors.  The 0-3 year old group was in a classroom in the school at our church.  Here Hunter's checking out his competition...

Looking through his treasures...

His favorite place to look was in the desks.  He kept going back to them and pulling out more and more eggs!

After a while, I guess the basket got too heavy, because he set it on the desk and would just carry the eggs over to it...

After it was over, I held up the camera and Hunter smiled for me...

...but apparently the flash set off one of his mood swings, because the minute the picture was done, he fell to the floor in a screaming fit.  You can see the other kids are as perplexed as I was...
All I could do was stand there and laugh with my friend Stephanie.  It was either that or cry.

We met Charlotte and James in the hall after H's basket was full and then headed downstairs with our friends.

Thomas and Hunter checking out their goodies...

Here's Hunter and his two best church buddies, Ronnie and Thomas...
I can't wait to take a picture just like that when they're teenagers.  Except there won't be eggs.  And there probably won't be sweet, cheesy smiles either.

Hope y'all had as much drama in your egg hunt as we did!  Or at least as much fun;)

Calling All Cowboys

We were a little worried Saturday morning when it was raining and freezing (who would've guessed?!), but it stopped just in time for H's cowboy party.  Our cowgirls and cowboys were suited up just in time for the pony rides to begin...
Can't you see how excited they are?  Maybe it'll be a little more believable if I add an exclamation point...they're so, so excited!!

I know most of them look frightened or just completely annoyed, but they were just keeping their joy to themselves...it was too cold to show expression:)

Since Hunter was adamant about not riding the pony, Cousin Brooke took the first ride...

then Jackson...

We thought if we put Char on, it would convice H to take a turn...
We were wrong.

So it was Natalia's turn, but she was more in Hunter's camp then Charlotte, Brooke, and Jackson's...

Hunter finally agreed to "lead" the pony around the yard...
As you can see, by "lead" the pony, I mean stand there and hold the rope.

Since Hunter wasn't too thrilled, most kids got a chance to ride pretty quickly after they walked up.  Here's Blake...

and Nathan...

Thomas...

and his cousin, Max...

Teagan with her mommy...

Cousin Vanesa...

Katie...

and Presley...

Kayden and Keeley with their mommy...
You can see why Hunter likes them so much;)

Cousin Carson...

I missed Charlotte's first ride, so I brought her out for a second one...

There were actually lots of kids that didn't feel like riding the pony, so the ones that did, got several rides, which worked out perfectly for everyone!

After a while, we came in and played "Pin the Cowboy Hat on Hunter"...

Then pretty soon after, it was time for cake!  Hunter was so excited about the cake that Aunt Courtney made for him...
He may not think much of live ponies, but give him a pony cake, and he can't get enough...
...except it's not a pony, it's a cowboy.  That must be why he was so excited;)

Hunter loves the "Happy Birthday" song, so of course he sang to himself...

He also loves blowing out candles, so that was another highlight...

After cake and ice cream and lots of playing with friends, everyone left and H opened his gifts with the family.  He got so many gifts!

It was a perfect Cowboy party, freezing weather and all!  Thanks to everyone who helped make it so special!
