The Great Outdoors

We went back to the Roberts' cabin this weekend in east Texas. I think this was our 4th visit, and it was just as fun as every other time. The Satterfields and Thomases went with us again this year, and the Robertses had left this cute drawing for us...

And another greeting...

It was already dark when we arrive on Friday night, so we just hung out inside until going to bed around 10:30. Charlotte and Amelia woke up at 4 and had some trouble sleeping for the rest of the morning. Around 6, we all were up and ready for the morning. The kids were excited to try out the swing once daylight hit...

Unfortunately, we had lots of injuries this trip. Hunter and Charlotte both fell off that swing (scary!) and Grey fell off the bottom of this slide (going too fast)...
Grey also got into it with a thorn bush, Amelia twisted her ankle, and one of the Satterfield boys also almost fell off the big swing. Somehow, Grey got a bunch of sand in his eyes and refused to open them even after water and saline drops. Hunter and Ronnie, also got an eyeful of sand after sledding down the hill, but they handled it like men. Finally, Carrie dropped her phone in the lake and had to jump in after it (fully clothed!) to save it. We had quite an eventful weekend, but it was full of fun, too!

Grey, like the other 2 Brooks kids, is timid and didn't want to try the swing or zipline or sled down the hill, but he loved this broom!

On Saturday, Grey went down for nap at 10:30 (crazy early, but after going to bed super late the night before and getting an eye full of sand, he really needed to go down), so I stayed at the cabin with him while most of the others went on a hike. They found this little frog in the path and apparently, Char was the first to jump at the chance to hold it. Everyone was kind of shocked!

Our little guys had fun together this weekend...

Caleb kept saying, "I like this Roberts' cabin!" and Grey loved pointing out all of the "big rocks" all weekend.

The zip line's always fun, but Hunter is getting so tall, that he kind of has to walk Fred Flinstone style for the first several feed...

Love this sweet friends! They have been friends since birth and are now 8 and 9. I pray that they always have a close friendship...

Char ready to go down the hill with Daddy...

There they go!

Grey was into everything all weekend - as usual! He sure keeps us on our toes...

Our annual group picture. Hopefully, we can continue to go and watch the kids grow over the years...

Here's last year's picture...

It's hard to go back to reality after a fun weekend away, but we can dream of next time!

Go Cowboys!

I found Cowboy's tickets on Living Social back in May, so I bought them for Father's Day for James. Last Thursday was finally the night of the big game, and James and I decided it would be fun for Hunter to go along. You can't really tell, but he was excited:)...
And because several people on FB have been confused, just want to clarify that's James standing with Hunter, not Tony Romo. This is the 3rd separate instance where James has been told that he looks like Tony Romo, and you better believe that he's eating it up:)

James took several pictures and texted them to me throughout the night...

At one point, the Cowboys scored two touchdowns pretty close together, and James said he wished he would've videoed Hunter because he was freaking out. I can only imagine...he did learn from the best. Hunter's quote of the night, "This is the most epic game ever!"

I'd say it was definitely money well spent! (Especially since we got the tickets for less than the parking). Hopefully the rest of the season is as good as the night was for them!

Good Citizen of the Week

The kids are loving their new school. They have both made friends...Hunter even has a boy in his class that is apparently his new BFF...playdate tomorrow! And Charlotte is loving that she gets to wear her own cute clothes everyday. Earlier this week she asked me to fix her hair "with a braid in a ponytail like Madison does for ballet sometimes." I'm not the greatest at fixing hair, but I think it turned out pretty good...

Last Friday Charlotte got a blue on her behavior chart (already!), which is going above and beyond, and this week, she was chosen as the first good citizen of the week. We filled out a poster that she got to share with the class and she gets to sit a special desk and be a helper in the class all week...

So proud of her! Excited to see what else this school year has for us!
